15th/16th June 2013 Vietnam

Vietnaaaahm! Dave O'Brien and Peter Nicholson - ripped off sleeves, torn down shorts, the shades, the headbands. OK, I've gone too far. Peter could use a headband right now but Dave, what would you do with yours? No suggestions thanks. I seem to remember in the last Vietnam game that my elite ranger...

16th/17th March 2013 Back of Beyond

Colin Jack and Dave O'Brien will take us back to the 1920s/1930s on the flying carpet of their collective mind. Their tenuous grip on reality is likely to stretch our minds too.

Re: 16/17 June 2012 - English Civil War

Readers will be getiing fed up hearing about another excellent weekend but it was another excellent weekend. Thanks again to Adrian and Barry for running the game so smoothly. I was pretty chuffed on Saturday to win three and draw one against Barry but on Saturday it all went pear-shaped for me with...

Re: 17th/18th MARCH 2012 - WILD WEST

That was another excellent weekend wargame fought in the Wild ,Wild West – Kiriemuir. Many thanks to Colin and Peter N for all of the work they put into a well organised and smooth running game. The highlight for me was the payback on the Apachees for treachery even if it was expected. It was goodby...

Re: 17th/18th MARCH 2012 - WILD WEST

Gentlemen, can we assemble at the hall at 7.00pm for what should be a relatively quick setup. Peter, are you able to get down then or later?

All guns to be left at the door, knives too, unless you're plannin' on shavin', or if you've got beans to eat or warts to cut or ...........

Yes Dave, these are the dates we agreed. All of the 2012 dates were booked some time ago and posted shortly after that.

Re: 17th/18th NOVEMBER 2012

The brave soldiers of V Corps are beginning to amass. OK straggle in. A few battalions are in hand with many more to follow and they're going to bring their pals with the long pointy sticks. I might even try to read something about this battle before we fight it.

Re: NOVEMBER 19th/20th 2011 Vietnam

Belated thanks to all who organised the game. A measure of the success was that we overran by an hour and no-one was complaining. It was riveting to the end. At least my special forces were well and truly riveted. Incidentally, what was special about these guys apart from dying before they landed? O...

Re: 28mm persians

Ross, thanks for that. That's the range I've been looking for. Now, does anyone know if they are available in Britain? I'm also planning to add some of the recent 1st Corps Persians into the mix of Foundry, Old Glory and other figures in hand. As an aside, but still on mix and match, between the Fou...

Re: NOVEMBER 19th/20th 2011 Vietnam

Peter/Colin, I have nothing specifically Vietnam but did make rather a lot of the "aquarium on a CD" type jungle pieces. Would they be useful or are you aiming for scale 150 feet trees? Could some palm trees be incorporated along jungle edges and if so I'll get on with basing up a selection of these...

Re: 28mm persians

I have Macedonians, Thracians and Scythians "comin' oot ma lugs" and the Persians are now the subject of my baleful gaze. With 30,000 cavalry at one battle the plastic Persian cavalry cannot be ignored when building armies at a 1:20 ratio. That's 1500 figures so the Thracian (100) and Scythian (150)...

Re: The Alma - June 18th - 19th 2011

Now gentlemen - stow the handbags. I've just read Angus' report and it seemed fair and generally accurate, almost to the point of being restrained. It was a bit shocking for Angus to find a brigade of the meandering Turks deploying directly behind his retreating forces, ready to move to ocupy that a...
