Re: Wolseley’s Enniskillen Regiment

Very, very, nice indeed.

And that goes for your blue guards too from the other thread. Also very very good.

Now excuse me, I'm just off to take a ball-peen hammer to the cavalry I was working on

Re: Another question on cuirassiers in Ireland 1690

Hi Clarence, just out of interest, the two Troops of lifeguard and one of Horse Grenadiers seem to have been of an equivalent size to the standard 9 troops of horse. Somewhere in the region of 600 men....

Re: LOA Fitzjames Horse?

I seem to vaguely recall, from Sapherson, that Fitzjames took command of one of the troops (which were actually squadron sized) of the King's Lifeguard of Horse for the campaign in Ireland.

Note, I haven't been drinking but am stuck at work away from said book so this could be nonsense.

Re: Lundin Links Weekender Summer 2012

From the point of view of "the fighting Duke" La Haye Saint in it's undiminished form proved the lynch-pin of our defense for several hours. The inability of the French to move within 9" of it without charging or assaulting meant that we could effectively block off a large part of the field un...

In the fullest traditions of French feats of arms: "My center gives way, my right retreats; situation excellent. I shall attack." If it hadn't been for those meddling Portuguese... Good write up Bill. Pretty much ties in with how I remember things. I was quite surprised at the mechanism that allowed...

That looks really impressive Bill, I look forward to blundering and fumbling my way across it.

At least it'll leave me with a vague notion of what I'm supposed to be doing at the weekend.
