RE Ulster flag; I'd be careful with it for this period. The Red Hand (actually a bloody hand) may well have been too much associated with the Gaellic culture for the Planters at this time. The Ulster plantation was still a relatively recent thing, and Gaellic power in the north had only been broken ...

I think the Guards can fairly be rated as Elite, the Earl of Antrim's Regt. was reckoned to be pretty good too. Other regiments would be middling to poor, but don't forget they performed well at Aughrim, where they fought from behind hedges and ditches, just what raw troops need to give them a bit o...

Unlikely on the Enniskillen castle during this period. The Irish Regiments of William were essentially formed from the Protestant civillians, (and probably soldiers who had been purged from the Irish Establishment by Tyrconell) from all over who had fled to Derry and Enniskillen and formed the defen...

I can't remember whose account it was, but there were comments that the Huguenot regiments crossing the Boyne were more roughly handled by the attacks of the Irish horse than other regiments as they were not equiped with pikes. Mind you the may have not been formed up properly when the attack fell o...

I'd like option 4. I am reluctant to buy PDFs, or similarily download full games by digital purchase, because both are somewhat incorporial. It feels like buying a licence rather than an object, I know its the other way arround. Of course I can print out a PDF, but you need a pretty good printer to ...

Joshua, I'm not at my home computer, so I can't see if I have that image. I should make it clear that I'm not soliciting for people to sponsor such a range, they would simply done sculpted by me and made available from Pendraken.

I'd hate anyone to think I was a shill !

Any interest in 10mm LoA?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone would be interested in 10mm figs for the Grand Alliance. I built up armies for the period in 15mm, but sold them on ebay when my interests moved on to 10mm. I've been sculpting for a while, and i've been thinking about it a bit. If there was some interest I would con...

Claymore 06?

Hi all,

Unfortunately I missed my chance to attend the show for the first time this year

Have any of you fine Scottish fellows got any photos of the games, or indeed, accounts of how it was?

Regards

I have heard of this before; but I don't recall where. As far as I can remember it was a reference to an officer in the regiment being asked by English or Irish Protestants as to why as a Catholic he fought for the Williamites. He replied along the lines of: I serve William as my King. The answer se...

Hi, I am a bit dubious about cockades or sprigs being more than feild signs adopted on the day of battle; certainly used on the day of the Boyne, and quite possibly retained thereafter, but I can't recall any specific reference. I think the allies did habitually use the green sprig on the continent,...
