28mm FLAGS

Post by pappenheimuk » Tue May 10, 2005 10:52 am

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer of flags that I could use for my Russian Crimea forces? I was told GMB are really nice but don't do Crimean, could I use Napoleonic flags?

Two options: Make 'em! or use the Napoleonic ones from GMB. Thin Red Line may have some other ideas as he is the Crimean buff

All the best

Strating in miniture Wargames no.58 March 1988 there is a guide to theCrimea War. In issue no59 there are some nice line drawings in color of uniforms etc.this is I think four issues up to No 62. issue 61 deals with the russains.Back issues should not be to hard to track down. Wargames Of tridelphia in the states and Caliver books in the UK. There are also some fantastic maps etc . Regards Lindsay

Late as usual Bob,

Barry was right, but so is Lindsay. If you are a capable painter and can produce linen flags like LOA, the research is there for you to do your own paint job.

Personnally, I was using Napoloenic "Flags for the Lads" until I saw GMB.
Needless to say its "GMB for me" Quick, excellent repros, even if not exactly 100 % authentic. Tad pricy compared to Flags FT Lads, but well worth the additional expense!

Hi,

Admittedly, Revo do them, but not a patch on size or quality of GMB.
My Revo Flags were consigned to the "bottom drawer", but then I have sacrificed authenticity for visual impact. (Do wish I could paint linen accurately like LOA)
