I really like this painting style. Hell the under coated figures look good enough on their own!

What colour undercoat did you use ? i really like the colour

Undercoat is Humbrol Matt 62 Leather followed by the burnt umber oil wash - full details on my blog (January archive - 'undercoating' and elsewhere.

stunning,as Jim say's the undercoated figures look great as they are, the painted figures are bright and crisp,top draw stuff.

The Witchmaster has in me his first (Austrian) Apprentice :D
Gonna give it a try this month with my Saxons for the GNW.

I've done a unit of Dacian cavalry using this method now and am impressed. Results are very good. thanks Olddorg.
I presume that you use some different humbrols for different horse colours.
It makes the figures easier to paint as the detail stands out.
