Barry is not mad!

Barry is not mad - at least not as completely as we thought he was. Barry will have lost count of the thousands of wargames figures he has painted over the last twenty odd years. However to set things in perspective check out on You Tube the site entitled Cavalry on Mass. The painter obviously means “en masse” but sanity may well have become a little stretched after painting 6750 20mm Airfix cavalry figures. This must have been like juggling plates. By the time you get near the end the plates are toppling or in this case the paint would be flaking.

I well remember my first Napoleonic army in the early/mid 1970s. Although there was a nice range of matt paints available by then and I undercoated by hand or spray, I never got the satisfaction of seeing my British and French armies completed without cream plastic appearing again from under the layers of paint when swords or bayonets were looked at the wrong way. However, I was a student and the Airfix packs from the Woollies counter were a great intro to a hobby which I thought I was inventing with my oldest lad until I came across Featherstone, Grant, et al in the college library. What a revelation, as was the first proper wargame I took part in a dining room in Dundee with many hundreds of metal figures. Thank you Wullie Robertson, where ever you are now!
