A Newcomer's Lament - Part 2

Post by Artimas » Sat Jan 04, 2014 10:59 pm

As an aside, for all you youngsters out there, the 1972 film The Three Musketeers with Michael York is a must see!!! It's still available on Netflix.

Anyway, it is a tribute to Barry, Clarence and all others associated with BLB that I have chosen this era over my beloved Napoleonics. Everything associated with the figures, web site, rules, flags, is absolutely first class in every way.

So here I am, trying to decide what unit to paint first - they are all so beautiful! I guess it must be the King's Musketeers and they will be ordered as soon as I recover from the book purchases.

In the meantime, I continue to drool over all the beautiful pictures...

Cheers from the US of A.

Artimas, welcome to our boards. You'll find whatever you need here.. info, inspiration, comedy and perhaps even... tragedy!

We are a very friendly bunch, there are quite a few of us, all corners of the gaming spectrum and geographies of the world are represented and the governance is somewhat anarchic although I suspect some see it as a benign dictatorship!

Any good Libertarian should feel at home here.... the only rule we try and practice is civility to one and all but with a questioning aspect!

I am sure you'll be diverted, amused and enlightened by our happy band!

That happens to Barry quite a lot of times :D

As long as we don't talk politics, I can manage to be (mostly) civil! Actually, I have read every active post on this blog in the last several days and found them rather enjoyable.

Speaking of reading, I have read Wikipedia's entries for most of the 17th century wars and my head is still spinning!!!! Not that Wikipedia is a consistently good source, but it will have to do for the time being.

Cheers,

Welcome to LoA, also a LoG (gentlemen). :)

You also have the extreme good fortune to have timed your arrival here, choosing the era that is experiencing a decided, and long overdue, explosion in recognition under the stewardship Barry, Clarence et al.

The Warfare miniatures (and eventually the GNW) line for the period 1660-1721 is rapidly promising to become one of the most extensive and best catered for periods with the obvious exceptions of the standards, Napoleonic, Ancients, etc.; the quality is second to none.

Settle in, celebrate your return to the hobby...you will find the pleasant ambiance exceptional compared to the cacophony of too many online groups...

Cheers,

Michael
