So what happened then?

Was expecting tall tales of derring do and Colins destruction of the officer corps.

I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed the day in Irvine.

Great organisation, venue, food, gaming, umpiring & superb craic!

Pleased to get a win on the Allied side, led by our C-in-C Jim,whose wonderful description of the impossibility of French cannon seeing our units turned the air blue. I'm still laughing.

Our 'hero' units were the 27th Dutch Jäger Regt & the 8th Dutch Militia!

On now to the Derby Weekender. :D

Wisely the French commanders decided to let me be Ney which had the advantage of keeping me away from dice for most of the day!

I had to retreat early but dispatches informed me of a solid Allied defence and the Gallic elan being checkmated at the crossroads!

The French definitely followed Marshall Ney's rather lethargic attitude in the advance, getting more attracted to Germincourt Farm every turn.

The rather stout defence of the Dutch infantry held up any chance of getting to the crossroads before the Allies arrived in force & a well timed charge by the Dutch (or Belgian) Hussars even stopped the French cavalry making it to Quatre Bras.

I think everybody enjoyed the day & we will return to Irvine for more 1 day events before the turn of the year.

Just the small matter of Waterloo to concentrate on now though.
