Hi,
Does anyone know of a good print or plan of the above Crimean fortification.

There is a man I know......

A good friend in Lancashire called David Shuttleworth who may well have access to this very information. I think he is a subscriber to the forum and I'll e mail him to see if he can help out.

Me and a couple of boys at our club were impressed with the Crimean battle that was run behind our game we decided to get some troops and give it a go. We decided to use mostly French troops as we thinking of building a model of the Malakoff redoubt to maybe use at next years Glasgow show.

Hi,

Nice to know there are other people out there interested in the Crimean War. May I suggest "The Crimean War Research Society" An absolute mine of information and publications, and I would suggest probally the most accurate information available on the subject. These guys are historians, ex- and serving militaryand the likes, as well as the common and garden wargamer like you and I.

Of course, we are allowed to use some artistic license - best wishes wi the project.

Bob Lauder is just too nice a guy to say that it was HIS game at Glasgow that you admired Pappenheim and I agree, it was great!

I think his family are a well known Turkish sect who moved from Ismir to Motherwell.

Thanks to 'JUTLAND'who as a librarian,wargamer and all round good egg has managed to acquire information from an original work by Elphinstone written I believe just after the Crimean War for the Royal Engineers. I have seen the book and it is a goldmine of engineering detail and drawings of the fortifications, siegeworks and engineering projects in the Sevastopol area 1854-1856.

I will post the info in a new Warchest section ARCHIVE of the Malakoff fort. This should keep you Crimean buffs happy!!

I think it is totally top stuff and have had the privilege of seeing the actual book from which it came. They don't make books like that anymore. Every page is a masterpiece and it had over 400 of them i seem to remember.

Downloaded some pics from a site called Xenophon International about Sevastopol, I did a search for Malakoff and it found Kornilov bastion pics. Is the Kornilov a different fortification from the Malakoff? I ask as I am a complete newbie to the Crimean era. Anyone want a look at the pics, I have created pdf's of them?

The Korniloff(v) and the Malakoff are one in the same.Not quite sure why there are two names for the same fort.
