Donnybrook for ACW?

Has anyone adapted Barry's Donnybrook rules for the ACW period?

Although not ready to collect the numbers required for full-blown battles of this era, I've always had a hankering for modelling some Confederate States skirmishers...

An excellent question, since I have recently started painting ACW figures.

I can't wait for an answer from the resident brain trust.

They will work as written, though you will want to adjust the muskets. I've used them extensively for the Napoleonic period. Off the top of my head...

Smoothbore Muskets... Drop the Move or Fire rule... improved technology and musketry drill made troops more maneuverable IMO. Also drop the misfire rule as the weapons would be more reliable.

Rifled Muskets... Range 30". For the Napoleonic period I still treat rifles as Move or Fire weapons, but by the time of the ACW it may no longer be necessary.

Repeating Rifles and Carbines... Not sure of the range I'd use, but treat these as Fast Reload.

Pistols as in Donnybrook but with the addition of Fast Reload...

Sabers and bayonets should be as written...

The army faction will work fine as is for either side. You could also adapt mob factions for irregular forces and outlaws for bandits/smugglers/etc.

Hope that helps!
