OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

hi all.i remember reading an article on building 15mm-20mm scale walls using kitty litter, some type of sealer(like the stuff you seal around worktops).then painting it in various shades of grey.once dry it moulds itself to the table top.oh there may also have been something about spreading the sealer on top of grease proof baking paper, that allows easy removal.
what i dont know is the type of kitty litter?the type of sealer acyrlic or silicon?OF COURSE i didnt bookmark the page....that would be too easy.
cheers

I did this a few years ago. just used the cheapest cat litter I could find. built the walls. painted them with a thin coat of pva. sparyed black to give something to key to and then drybrushed.

Based it on mounting board. Some of it warped very slightly. I would use mdf if I did it again

I meant to say. after a couple of them warped a bit I reduced the length of the sections to about 4 inches. no more warping.

We put them on balsa and also used icecream sticks.
We also used small stones from diy shop used for pools
