15mm FOW US HMGs and Mortar platoons

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

15mm FOW US HMGs and Mortar platoons

Hi,
just completed these 2 Flames of War platoons and I thought I'd post them here. There is a US HMG and a Mortar platoon with transports. The figures are for someone else so I had to match the bases to the existing ones in the army.

One small problem was that 2 of the jeeps were a bit miscast at the front so I thought I'd try and cover the jeeps in some camo net. So heres the pics

They look great,as always.The idea with the camouflaged jeeps is great too.
Just the nets looks a bit to white for my taste.

thanks for the comments. This was my first go at doing nets. Looks like they may have to go as the customer isn't keen on them.

The grass is a nice autumn mix from Antenociti's Workshop.

what bases did you use?

and did you build the wooden emplacements the morter teams are in
and last but not least the grass is very nice is that a mix of static grass?

thanks.

The gun pits were made from a mix of match sticks and coffee stirers kindly donated by McDonalds.

Bases are done with Vallejo Pumic gel with chocolate brown mixed in and a dry brush of GW Graveyard earth and then GW Bleached bone.
