28mm Early WWII French Infantry from BAM

Hi,
finally got round to taking some pics of recent work last night. Theres a few pics so I'll split them between 2 posts.

First off we have some very nice Early French infantry sculpted by Richard Ansell. This is the firsy 4 packs. Should have the command, HMG and mortar done next week.

They should be on show at Salute if you want a closer look.

Great looking mini's. You have really captured the feel of the clothing being worn put through the dirt. Now, I have to ask, how did you achieve this?

Hi,
I tend to use a lot if brown ink washes/glazes just now. The trick is to try and be untidy when you hi light it and miss out some patches that have been washed.

Also a wash of very watered down paint over some of the darker areas helps.

This does give you a shiny model so some good matt varnish is needed. I use Dullcoat spray.

Thanks for that. I may give it a try on some American Infantry in Greatcoats. how do you find the technique on smaller areas?

I use Dullcoat spray.

I'm down to my last six so here's to hoping that they get the formula sorted out and we get the same results
