Dear Friends,

here are some pictures of the models of the upcoming guns in pre production mould state.
First two pictures of the Saxon 4 pdr Fast Firing gun





Here now two pictures of one of the lightest 12-pdr guns in use at this time.
The gun weight just under 1 ton (928kg)





I am quite happy with their look.

This is a controversial question. Saxon sources tells of self designed guns and carridges. Some Authors try to draw a line to the french AN XI system but that wont be accurate. The Saxons are still great engineers and innovators of advanced technologies.
Saxony had a tradition to built its own gun material for more than 150 years before the above guns were thought out and constructed. They proofed to be of modern, state of the art, design and their reliability can be seen by the 12pdr cannon barrel cast in 1812 and used over 50 years later in the german danish war. The cannon now stands in the Army Museum of Kopenhagen.

To answer you question, no other german state used this design. It was instead said that prussia built upon those guns their own artillery and also Austria used the Saxon design to built up their own versions of them.

Dear Friends!

After a long time of silence on this thread I can present the following new units that have entered recently the Service of the Saxon Army:

1st and 2nd Battery of Horse Artillery
New for those Miniatures, sculpted by Steve Barber, is the style of animation as loading the guns. Figures have been painted by me as have been their guns.

The Second new unit are the Saxon Jaeger Corps.
Figures have been also recently sculpted by Steve Barber, painted by Neil Wilson - all but the Officer - which has been painted by me and was originaly a Officer of the Horse Artillery.

Next in the Line are the remaining Chevaux Legers Regiments and as a final part of the Saxon Infantry the two Regiments of Saxon Light Infantry.

Dear Friends,

To keep up the preasure on those who don't want to have the next Invasion Army crossing the Channel I herewith present the next Element of the still growing Saxon Army of 1810.

The Chevaux Leger Regiment vac. Polenz about 720 men strong, formed in four Squadrons of about 180 Sabers each.

Dear Friends,

I herewith present the finished Saxon Light Infantry. There are 4 Battalions in Marching Order if not needed in a battle and also 4 Battalions in Skirmish Order.

































This Formation concludes the Infantry of the Saxon Army.

All that remains is an almost done Chevauleger Regiment, the Saxon Hussar Regiment and about 10 Foot Batteries, to be followed by 8 Regimental Batteries. Until the arrivel of the Heavy Regiments I will work on the Train Battalion with 18 Caissons and 40 Artillery Trains.

The size and historical detail of this army is simply impressive !! what rules are you going to use in order to play with the complete army ??
congratulations!

Well, the Rules I would like to use for them are Republic to Empire.
In the current situation it looks more as if this Army would not play at all.
It will be of course do some travels through Europe but if it is to see a Battlefield depend very heavy on others.
You know, I did not raise a certain Division or Corps but the Full Army as it stood 1810-1812 in Saxony until splitted up for the Russian Campaign.
This means all 26 Battalions of Infantry, 36 Squadrons of Cavalry and the Artillery Regiment of 16 Foot and 2 Horse Batteries.
