I really like your dining room chair; oh by the way, the troops are impressive too!

(Just kidding, but I really do like the chair).

Thanks Boys for the comments, even with the weird ones.
I promise, I didnt paint the chairs myself!

I am happy when the "visitors" leave a comment and Ray definetly did his share! Especially now because of the Donnybrook Hype when not even the usual subjects leave a word..
As I once said I do this mainly for myself to have a story which I can follow through later when all has been done.

Thanks Ray and Artimas!

Günter

LOL. Of coarse I knew you have posted before, it's just that your latest post sounded like someone who just had found the thread. I have enjoyed Gunter's many threads; I think they're some of the best on this site.

The unit is beautifully done; I am especially impressed with the rendering of the grey horse. Very well done. I can just see a whole regiment of Scotts Greys painted that well.

Cheers,

Artimas

P.S. I'm sorry - I still like your chair!

Dear Friends,

Today I add, for now, my last unit to the Saxon Army of 1810-1813.
It is the Super Large Saxon Hussar Regiment, consisting of 8 Squadrons of 132 mens each, over 1000 men alltogether.

The Regiment is supported by 9 dismounted Hussars and will later get also one or two dismounted Officers.

This Thread ends for now until the Heavy Cavalry is "born".

Thanks for following.

Cheers,
Günter

Now that's what I call a cavalry regiment Gunter! would they operate as a complete regiment or split into smaller units for easy of fighting as the Russians did with their hussars.
Cheers

They make an imposing sight, Günter--enough to put a shiver down the spine of any infantry formation! :D

Both ways Dave, there are reports that the Regiment made full regimental Attacks but at that point the Regiments Ranks were depleted after months of recon, skirmishes and patrol duty and had only 600 men in the saddles left.
But it also was split up as forementioned duties called on their abilities.
They had polish horses who were more robust as the central european breeds and so withstood the hardships in Russia better than most of the others.

Thanks for your comment.

Yes Bryce they do indeed! :D
1000 Horses thundering at Infantry was always a frightening sight.
Just give my boys the right supporting units... 3 Chevauleger Regiments and a Lancer Regiment! Voi La! You get almost 4000 Horsemen!

Cheers,
Günter

Really impressive !!! I always lose interest in painting the cavalry after finishing 12 horses with respected riders....

Great looks. Stunning unit and they "brauchen ihren Dreck nicht alleine machen" :))))
