Dear Friends,

Yesterday I gave order to my painter to start painting the 284 Limber Horses as my 42 gun models which are currently in different states of finishing plus 28 allready finished need something to pull them!

If I include the 18 Caissons into the Batteries or keep them seperated as Ammo Park I dont know in the current state. If yes, I would need another 2 Boxes to carry them...

The complete Army needs so far 12 x 33litre Boxes!

Dear Friends,

The unlimbered Guns with Crews of the Saxon Artillery Regiment are done. Only 3 models missing which are still in production. After all it is now visible how large and massive this Regiment has been.

The four Back rows are the 6pdr Batteries including the Horse Batteries



Now I can start painting the Drivers of the Limbers...about 300 of them

This Artillery Regiment will remain untouched in its size until it is dissolved in 1918 - 16 Batteries at all times! Its combined Firepower will have a devastating effect 1870 at St. Privat.

A days work at the Artillery Workshop:

30 Limbers glue'd painted and assambled to mount wheels and Ammo Boxes.

That is thirty out of seventy. Still 'some' work ahead My painter told me that the 280+ Trainhorses are finished and he has now to pick an easy way to deliver them to me as they are 9 kilo (lead) horse Flesh

Also the last three 12pdr Canon's are almost finished only missing their wheels and a touch of gold for the gun barrels.

Last week I got a huge package from LITKO which contained lots of Adhesive Flexible Steel sheets. I started to place them on the bottoms of the Bases so to find out if I had a miscalculation in terms of space needed to carry my Army to Derby in October. So far 5 of 12 Boxes are filled with Cavalry, Light Infantry and half the Artillery. Two to three Boxes will follow this weekend with 26 Infantry Battalions. What remains to be seen is the huge amount of Artillery, Limbers and Train.

Because of my current slow progress I finish the last 40 Artillery Bases this week while anxiously awaiting the delivery of 280+ Limber Horses. They are a little overdue... I will post pictures of the fineshed 8 Foot Batteries, five 6pdr and three 12pdr, and the 8 Half-Batteries of 4pdr Regimental Guns.

The following update has been brought to me by my Sculptor:

The Heavy Cavalry Horses and the Cuirassiers are finished and will be moulded next week followed by sculpting of the Guard du Corps.

The decission was made that the Kettledrummers for those units will follow as Vignettes until the end of the Year.

Can't wait to see them. All your infantry and artillery won't do you any
good without the cavalry to follow up your victories.
