17th line

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

Hi Gunfreak,

I am building up a division of white-coated bicorned troops including the 17th. Any chance of posting photo's of your ones please?

Your later 17th above is looking good.

Regards,

Jim

Gunfreak,

If you uploaded two images, the top one hasn't come out but the bottom one is surely the 17th from their scarlet facings. I see that you also do the pom-poms in company colours which is a bit of an anachronism (didn't start until 1811) but I do the same - just because it looks bloody good!

I intend to have four regiments of two battalions each:

1st - Green facings
9th - Black facings
17th - Scarlet facings
33rd - Violet facings

Each battalion will have six companies of six figures each mounted on 50mm x 50mm bases.

You can see my first command stand and a few voltigeurs here.

Regards,

Jim

Wow you got alot of space to play on, with those big battalions and roomy basing, Just to even get a modest 28mm battle on my table I base 8 figures to 50x50mm base, that means I get 32 figures on 20cm or 24 on 15.

That means I have to overlook the whole company structire and just do it as a battlion on the whole.

Very nice painting.

My 24 figure 15mm battalions take up only 10cm frontage, which is good since I need 15 of them for the 1st division 1st corps at borodino,

then I need 4 batteries of atillery and 3 heavy and 3 light regiments of horse.

Gunfreak,

Actually I live in a flat and my wargame table is only 6' x 4' but I can get a wee brigade fight in now and again. And thanks for the kind comments. The images above look great with the basing.
