Huguenots in Ireland 1690

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

After a break due to a couple of new projects demanding attention... some more Huguenots finished off, this time combined grenadiers which will form some commanded shot (or a section for Donnybrook perhaps).

The next lot are already underway...

The second regiment of foot, La Caillemotte's. Beyond the grey coats the uniform is pretty much made up, there are few secondary or primary sources on what was worn. The officer I realise should probably not be in red, to myself I'm making the excuse that Massue de La Caillemotte was killed leading his regiment at the Boyne, so perhaps a senior officer from staff or another regiment has taken over to continue the advance!

The truth is I wanted to paint something other than grey! :D

That's a very nice looking unit Colin and remember officers could wear what they like so I have no problem with the red coat.

Another officer joins the ranks (or is that comes up from the ranks?).

And the last regiment of foot, La Meloniere's, are finally underway.

Then it's just Schomberg's horse and a couple of cannon to finish the project.

His men are probably hoping he's pointing out a well stocked distant tavern. But knowing my die rolling (woeful reputation reinforced at the weekend) you're probably right.

Best have a replacement handy...

Image

Let's hope he doesn't stray in front of that gun and thus avoids the embarrassment of getting blown to smithereens by his own side... is that possible in BLB?

I can probably find a way.

The final regiment of foot La Meloniere's - just in time for a Derby weekend!

Image

Currently the full muster is three regiments of foot, some commanded shot and assorted staff.

Next up Schomberg's Horse

And a gun or two...
