League Of Augsburg - Fighting Talk

If you were at the recent Derby Weekender may have spotted the birth of a new metal based obsession on the Williamite right flank (maybe not, the unkempt hair, befuddled manner and glassy stare are default settings). After chatting with Barry I got a book (Osprey Campaign) some figures and decided to have a go at building my own force (you never know they may even grace a Weekender, eventually).

Since it's Warfare miniatures and BLB I thought I should post a bit here. I haven't quite got together in my head the full force I'll build (these things tend to start small and grow big - I probably didn't have to say that ). But anyway here is a test piece. The officer below is either going to belong to Cambon's or he may find his way onto Schomberg's command stand.

I'll be happy with a battalion at the moment (I'm a very slow painter!). Had a good look at the Saxon muster on your 1810-13 thread, magnificent and I hope to see them 'live' on a table top sometime.

....I know you said you wern't a quick painter...but a few command stands would be useful...especially as you tend to use a lot over the whole weekend!!!!

For the sake of morale I told him he had received his promotion through merit (that merit being, only man standing )

I'm hoping he manages to survive until March... not likely with my die rolling but I'm trying an optimistic outlook for a change...

I was thinking I should order up a couple of casualty packs and make my command stands out of those!

This is the CinC for my fledgling force. Based his uniform on a plate of the Duke of Schomberg in Osprey's "Battle of the Boyne 1690" (p 78).



Guess I really should stop mucking about with the gentry and do some footsloggers...

When I started the project I had no idea that it was a well trodden path on Fighting Talk and I've found a couple of the threads most helpful in putting together the uniforms particularly:

Anyway latest shots - Finished command stand and a stand of infantry from Cambon's regiment (purple cuffs for no other reason than they match the splendid Warfare flags )

After a long hiatus finished the latest command stand for the Huguenots. Alas this is a common scenario for units under my command; the brigadier lies dead and his replacement (a mere corporal at sunrise) has decided he'd better make a quick will before the next turn comes round...
