Perry Conversions & Claymore Archers Now Based (Sort of).

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

Perry Conversions & Claymore Archers Now Based (Sort of).

Post by Atheling » Mon May 25, 2015 7:11 pm

It's been a while since my last post on La Journee so I thought I'd post up some pics of what I've managed to do thus far. The first base is awaiting another (unconverted) archer who is currently matting down on the hall windowsill whilst the bases that contain their more belligerent 'preparing for melee'getting stuck in' are currently on the painting table with a lot of other stuff! All are a mix of the Free Salute Perry Miniature, Perry Miniatures Plastic and Metal HYW English and Claymore Castings- all very high quality miniatures in their own right.

These bases should be complete by tomorrow's end and if I remember to re-charge the battery on my camera I'll do a bit of a step by step for how I base up the mini's too.

You can see more pics of the bases on my La journee Blog here:

Thanks for looking,

Very nice Darrell, beats the pants of my golden oldies.

I managed to see glimpses of it David... If I'm ever up in sunny Ed. again at some point we must arrange some sort of Medieval game! :)

Sorry Dave, I mean't to answer you yesterday but kept getting an Error notice when I clicked on 'Quote'.

you're making me positively green with envy. i remember it was quite hard (with the exception of yourself) to get my fellow SESWC'ers to play any Late Med. stuff when I was at the club. What rules are you using? I'm staying at David's over Claymore (I ought to remind him!) so maybe it would be possible to fit in a game? It's a thought anyway and it'd be great to catch up properly as opposed to the frenzied talk at that usually ensues at Claymore due to the volume of people I need to catch up with.

Darrell, we're using Hail Caesar with the troops based on Impetous sized bases. I've been experiment with the troop gratings over the last few games to try and get a more medieval feel to the rules. So far they seem to be working well and nobody has complained.
Are you going to Partizan this weekend?

Sounds good to me. :)

Yeah, I'll be there. Can't wait!! I'm playing in Simon Miller's game (I think) with a view of using his To the Strongest rules for Hastings at Salute next year. So, I may not be about as much as I usually am. I'm going to try to make time to get my usual quota of snaps..... wouldn't be right to go to Partizan and not take a lot of pics!! :)

See you there.

Darrell.
