Foot Men at Arms Unit II Added- Please Scroll Down:
Here's what I've been working on of late (for personal use
).
It's the first six Men at Arms on Foot for our club's Haggis Rampant campaign. I sculpted the straps for the shields on as I thought that they looked a little odd just hanging on space instead of being attached to their torso's.

That armor, both the mail and padded are some of the best I've seen!

Latest additions to my Haggis Rampant force are a u it of Foot Men at Arms and a few Fierce Foot. They have actually been painted up for a month or so but for reasons outlined on my blog they haven't until recently seen the camera lens.
I'm quite pleased with them really and they have more of a liveried look than the last batch of Foot Men at Arm; historically contrived but needed I think in a skirmish force where we might have four retinues on the table top at one given time.
you can as usual read more about my reasons for painting them up in the manner depicted and see
many more pics on my

Art College education and ensuring that even bright reds and yellows appear natural by keeping the hue muted to some degree. Then I simply highlight up by adding VMC Ivory (I find off white and white far too stark). I do at least five layers. Usually no more unless there's an extreme edge of a garment to highlight.
Simplest way of doing this is to add a 'grey'. When I say a grey I mean a mix of two complimentary tertiary colours. I hope that's not too complex an answer?
If so google basic colour theory and tertiary colour mixing
