The 49th where part of the 27th Division.
At Leipzig this division had only 7 battalions vs 12 it should have, with all regiments except 1 jeger regiment down to a single battalion. The avrage strength of the battalions was 444. Which means that instead of the theoretical papper strength of 9600 man. This division at Leipzig had bearly over 3000. Thats less then a full strength brigade.....

Nice Looking unit!
My question is, and I am by far no Expert on Russian Uniforms, would those Shako's and large Plums not indicate that they are from 1805 to..1807?

Leipzig 1813 would at least show them wearing Kivers AFAIK
Just a thought

Cheers,
Günter

The use the 1809 shakoes. That look like a mix earlier shakoes and the kiwer.

Alot of new research say that 1809 Shako was much more common even as late as 1813.(and some claim the kiwer was totaly missing from 1812)

I'd agree on the matter of shakos, but I do not believe this meant the plumes weren't replaced around 1811.

Also, no plumes for the sharpshooters on the left flank :D

After all that rumbling by the FP-Faction it is still a nice unit and you can see from the basing style that the "Bryce -Method" left its mark upon us noobs

I'm most impressed by the obvious quality of Gunfreak's painting. Neat layering, tidy details, excellent colour choices and contrasts! Patience and practice have paid off very handsomely Truls! :D

Thanks People.

I'll remember not giving plumes to the light company.

I plan on buying another box. As 32 figures is way to many for 444 avrage soldiers pr. battalion the remaining 6 battalions will be 24 figures.
So another box will let me build the last two jaeger battalions.

I agree that 32 is probably overegging the pudding, historically speaking, but the impact of photos of Peter Gilder's marvelous collection during my formative years is too strong a pull

I agree with that also as I use mounted commander to make up for lack of standards. I'm afraid it will be over kill in a small 24 figure unit.

24 figure units are allready a bit "square" compeard to 32-40 figure units.
