28mm Spanish Provincial Tercio 1675-90'

OK, so after two years I've finally given in to having a section of the FORUM specifically set up to discuss painting techniques, display examples, show your latest projects and chat about this vital part of the hobby. Manufacturers please feel free to post up your sculpts, ask questions about what the gamers are after and generally promote your work.. no charge! Painters, please also feel free to post up your work for comment and critique. I can't promise the unreserved adulation characteristic of some other fora but I would hope you'd get constructive and measured comment!

28mm Spanish Provincial Tercio 1675-90'

Hi guys,

Hi guys, I have just updated my blog:
https://spanishleadpainting.blogspot.co ... ercio.html

Some months ago I started to paint a unit for my Spanish army, suitable either for 1670 or League of Augsburg War, using mainly Front Rank miniatures, you can see the previous post here:

https://spanishleadpainting.blogspot.co ... -1670.html

So finally I managed to finish it, a Provincial Tercio, made up of recruits, and ready to fight in Catalonia against the French. Also could they could be used in Flanders, as the uniform was (mostly) off white and red in several Tercios of the Army of Flanders.

In order to give some colour variation, I used 3 different recipes to paint the off white; Artic Grey (Foundry), Rakarth Flesh (Citadel), Stormvermin Fur (Citadel).

I really like the way it looks, with those Front Rank miniatures of their "Monmouth rebels" range intermixed with the more professional look of the regular infantry of their late 17c range.

So here you have the pics of the finished unit:

Beautiful work as always. I particularly like the variety of hats / coats / colours that gives this unit a different character.

Well done !

Many thanks guys for the kind comments, Yeah, this time I wanted to introduce at least 3 different versions or shades of the same colour in the uniforms in order to add some variety and realism :)
