Ray, 90% of the time (or more) your squadrons will be in a line, with two stands side by side. The way I based my ECW units (and the way I intend to base my BLB units when I get that far... ) is with the standard bearer on the extreme right or left of one stand and the officer on the opposite of the other stand. When the stands are side by side, both figures are in the center of the unit. If you have a musician, he can go on either base.

Ray, I base my figures up the way Clarence has described them, I also try and put musicians into the next squadron of cavalry so that I don't have too many personalites in the front rank.
Cheers

My squadsrons are 4 figures strong, but count six for casualties. I have 2 figures per base on a slightly smaller frontage as well. I don't recall the exact size at the moment.

Dear All,

so sorry for not being a regular visitor to my own Forum but alas I am now 14 days away from home and have worked or travelled all of those :(
My visists have been usually late at night and only for a ouple of mins so my posting has been erratic. I now find myself in my favourite 13th century hotel in Weston on the Green with 10 minutes to surf before my next meeting.
Basing in 2 or 3 doesn't really matter now.. as stands of 6 models are the norm for combat. Do what looks good Ray

cheers

From the Close Combat chapter...

In close combat the entire unit fights. The basic combat element is a 6 model group equating to a full strength Foot stand or Horse squadron. Each combat element provides 1 x D6. The number of D6 is then adjusted using the Combat Modifiers Table before combat is resolved.
