Cuirassiers in combat.

Post by Darkman » Fri Sep 05, 2008 3:40 pm

Hi having read the rules I am interested in the reasoning behind giving Cuirassiers more dice in combat.

I would have thought that Cuirassiers did not have a greater ability to fight but a better ability to survive.
Or is it because they were now confident in surviving that they fought better.

I just wondered if the people fighting the Cuirassier should either lose dice or have less of a chance of killing.

Thanks

The extra dice per three cuirassiers could possibly represent ANY or ALL of the ideas you put forward:

Better able to survive because of armour
Better morale because they feel superior
Better combat capability because of horses & equipment.

The whole idea of the rules was to make them quick and easy so it is sa moot point as to whether you 'advantage' the Cuirassiers or 'disadvantage' their opponents.

The system used is quick and easy to remember and identifies them a different.. that was the reasoning.

I am not a mathematician but if anyone is inclined to work out the probabilities of the current mechanism versus for example, making the opponent LESS able then I am will ing to look at it but I don't really see any point as it seems to be just another way of getting the same result:

Giving advantage to the Cuirassiers
Hope this helps
