Arc of Fire

Post by martin terroni » Tue Nov 04, 2008 9:06 am

Hi Barry, Question on arc of fire "To determine arc of fire for infantry and artillery Draw a straight line out from the centre point
of the rear of the figure base through each of the front base edges - this is the arc of fire." When you mean front base edge are you referring to the corners. (do you have a diagram?) and does this refer to 1 stand or unit:?:

Hi

I think it means the corners.

A problem arises with the (now) varying base sizes. With the wider base size Barry is now using for larger figures, their "arc of fire" is increased . . . and it shouldn't be.

Barry, how about giving us a fixed number of degrees?

Guys, I spotted that one a while back.. with the wider bases thing!
Just gone through the same pain in R2E and after messing with NO ARC which cauased a minor revolution at a play test I have reverted back to 22.5 degrees either side of the firing element ie for cannons - the barrel. For infantry stands the centre figure of the stand. If more than half the figures are in arc then the stand can fire at no penalty other than the normal applying to it for shooting/targets..

you'll be fine with that

I think the 7yw police, might want to think on! There is not many years between the end of 1721 to the 7yw. I see the period as a transition from one to the other, hence the rules fit. I didn't know that rolling dice was specific to one period or another
