How is this project coming along? Can we expect anything this year?

All of our time has gone into Donnybrook of late, but we have begun compiling scenarios and photos. Once Donnybrook is off to the printer, I will bask in that peaceful feeling for a few days before starting on the next book which I think will be the Irish supplement, though we have discussed several options going forward...

Hi, Paul!

I think 2014 will be the Year of the Irish, but we have only done preliminary work on the book so far.

We had this discussion last time we spoke. Most companies have teams of people working on their books. Between Barry and I we cover researching, writing, editing, playtesting, photography, artwork, graphic design, layouts, promotions, and advertising. We have help with the playtesting, but this often creates more work as we sift thorugh the results! Barry has also painted enough models specifically to illustrate all eight factions for Donnybrook (ironically, I have yet to paint a full faction for the period).

Along with Warfare Miniatures, other Wordtwister projects, gaming weekenders, and very, very busy mild mannered alter egos with regular jobs, we are unable to complete projects as quickly as we'd like. On the other hand we aren't stressing it either. I am hopeful we will have Donnybrook ready for Christmas and we will be ready to launch the next project after the holidays...

It's a certainty Paul, no possibles about it.I did my field trip for four days taking literally hundreds of pix of Aughrim, The Boyne, Ballyneety and Athlone.. these will appear(some of them) to help people understand terrain set ups etc. In addition we'll have army builder info, uniform info, flag info, scenarios and addition BLB rules for the campaigns in Ireland.

Certainly looking forward to this one Barry and Clarence...

Another product worth waiting for! Just the background information is worth it's weight in gold.

I'm glad they're coming in waves (Donnybrook, Irish Campaign, other scenario booklets?, and the new release of GNW figures and the such)...gaming allowance can handle so much at one time.

As I'm going through my massive re-basing project of my NYW armies, I want to start putting together units that have the pike already integrated into the musketeer bases. What, if any rules would you be adding to reflect this type of composition? I was thinking on the lines of the GNW armies (Swedes and Russians), that some or most regiments have a similar make-up; what portions of stands would be considered firing? All, two or none? I trying to follow Ray Rousell's unit breakdown of musket to pike ratio to represent those types of units.

Greg, the rule details are still in a first draft. I don't know how much we want to put out yet.

Generically all musket units are better at shooting and all pike units better in close combat. A standard BLB unit (three stands of muskets with the rear pike stand) represents roughly 3:1 shot to pike. They are not as effective as 'All Musket' at shooting, but they gain the pike combat bonus. A 2:1 ratio of shot to pike would be two stands of muskets with a central stand of pikes. They only fire as two stands and gain the pike combat bonus. All pike units have NO shooting and better combat bonuses.

Nothing is set yet. Barry has used these rules in a few games and once we are farther along we will be asking for play testers as usual!

That sounds reasonable for the ratio of musket and pike. Will press forward with a variety of musket pike ratio units for Jacobites.

Our group here in Tucson is ready for any play-testing, please keep us in mind.
