1st game

Post by Prince Henry » Mon May 19, 2014 2:23 am

Just played BLB2 for the first time - small game for learning purposes - 1 brigade of infantry and 1 brigade of cavalry on each side with a couple of guns. The game went very well - most questions were covered by the rules, but I do have two questions:

1) We had a cavalry battle where 1 unit wiped out the other unit through casualties - what is the winner supposed to do - obviously there is no one to pursue and the losers banner is captured. Does the winner stay in place disordered? Or does it need to take a test to not pursue?

2) In another 1on1 cavalry battle - the units fought for three bounds - charger won first (charged failed morale and was shaken) - 1st bound a 2 to 3 casualty result and loser passed morale - 2nd round was a draw, so 2 casualties each - 3rd round both units were wiped out. Does this sound right?

BTW - Barry, I am going to keep a log on each units' performance in BLB2 - inspired by your web page - very cool!

1: make the unit wiped out do his rout move first and then remove the unit. This is because the unit isn't really wiped out in place but destroyed as a fighting force so it would still run first, then fade away. The winner makes the pursuit roll normally and this situation you mention no longer becomes a question.

2: yup it happens.

As Joe answered, plus the thing to remember that units aren't actually wiped out, it really represents their ability to take part in any further action has been so reduced by casualties, troops hiding/fleeing, exhaustion and disorder that they are no longer a viable unit.
Hope this helps?
