Mixed cav and infantry

Post by Gunfreak » Wed May 28, 2014 11:42 am

So finnaly read a book on the WSS, and the allies on in 3 battles had infantry in close suport of cav, were the allied cav if pressed to hard, would retire towards infantry and the infantry would hold back the Franco-Allied cav with volleys.

Is this possible to simulate in the rules?

Fairly simple answer to this one; no special mechanism required. Manoeuvre your army in a coordinated way by keeping your Foot in sync with the Horse. Intersperse cavalry brigades with infantry brigades with the latter perhaps two battalions abreast and two deep. When the cavalry RALLY BACK or ROUT they will do so through the gaps between FOOT and HORSE brigades. Enemy Horse can be shot at in the firing phase following any pursuit or melee.
