Swedes for BLB

Post by Gunfreak » Thu Nov 12, 2015 10:58 am

So i could just use the swedish army from the book.

But I'm thinking no.

The problem is that swedes had often 40-50% cav.

How to simulate that?

Should i just do 1 squadron for each battalion?

But a squadron is alot smaller the a battalion in actual menn.

It does not change anything but a BlB-Squadron in Miniatures is actual representing 2 Real Squadrons so approx. 200-240 men. 2 BlB Squadrons therefore give a Regiment of up to 500 men.

To compare:
A Foot Regiment/Battalion represents 500-800 men.

Frontage is the most important thing. Each BLB cavalry unit of 6 figures represents 2 squadrons usually so to get a 50/50 split as a representation have 1 cavalry squadron per infantry battalion.

A full strength indelta battalion would have about 600 men, usually in four ranks. A full strength indelta cavalry company (sometimes called a squadron) had about 125 men. A BLB Swedish "squadron" of two stands should represent about 250 men, probably in three ranks. This squadron's frontage would be 2/3s of a three stand battalion, which seems about right in "real life." If I were going to represent an army of 3600 infantry and 3600 cavalry I would have 6 battalions and 14 or 15 BLB squadrons. These squadrons would be in regiments of as many as four squadrons, so you are looking at about 3 regiments per wing.
