Help with grand alliance army

Post by Gunfreak » Mon Nov 23, 2015 10:07 pm

So i'm making a very gamey force of league of augsburg .

It will consist of one brigade of dutch, one of danish and n English one.

But how to flesh it out. I'm thinking two brigades of cav, one should be mix of danish and dutch? And one English? Or danish/english and dutch /imperial?

Two guns? Light or medium?

My two cents worth - 3 brigades of cavalry, one each nationality and 3 guns - 2 light, 1 medium

gives a nic balanced force - with a more accurate ratio of cav to infantry (depending on how many squadrons and battalions you have per brigade).

Sounds sorta like my Williamite Boyne army...

DUTCH
Garde te Voet (2 battalions)
Brandenburg
Nassau-Saarbrucken-Ottweiler
converged grenadiers

ENGLISH/IRISH
Hanmer
Wolseley's Horse (2 squadrons)

HUGUENOT
De la Meloniere
Caillemotte
Cambon
Schomberg's Horse (2 squadrons)

DANISH
Garden til Fods
Zealand
Jutland
Funen
Donop's Horse (1 squadron)
Juel's Horse (1 squadron)

ARTILLERY
4 battalion guns
2 field guns

They are to be fielded in five brigades..

The Dutch Blue Guard and Grenadiers
The Remaining Dutch with Hamner's
The Huguenots
The Danish
The Horse

For artillery I just painted one light gun per foot brigade and one field gun per two foot brigades. I want to paint two more English battalions to make a proper brigade and some Dutch Horse and Dragoons, but I am trying to get some Jacobites painted now.

Of course, many of these units can fight for either king with a flag swap and I painted the artillery as generic as possible to allow for the same thing.
