REPUBLIC TO EMPIRE WEEKENDER - your views

Post by barr7430 » Tue Dec 01, 2009 11:42 am

Folks,

Am thinking of organising a Republic to Empire Weekender as an open event probably in a hotel somewhere where there is easy access for most parts of the UK.
It would be a residential event in the fashion of the old Holiday Centre.

What do you think they take up on this might be?

Brilliant idea as long as you time it to my next UK visit- the date of which I'll delay a decision on until I know when your weekend will be

Cheers Barry
I usually come back home about every 18 months or so, timed my last one to coincide with Salute and actually had a nice chinwag with you at your game

Wife's been trying to get me to go via the US lately, maybe we willl this time via Gettysberg.

Because the purpose of my return is to visit family, the timing doesn't really matter so I'm quite serious about the possibility of timing it to a wargames w/e

I suppose that makes me a bit sad doesn't it

Sounds like a good idea Barry.

I would certainly be interested coming along. However, i'd like to do more than just shovel my destroyed troops back into their boxes like i did at the Blenheim fight a few years ago!

I haven't had chance to read the rules as yet. I have looked at the nice pictures though. I don't post or read the forums on TMP, so dunno what's been said. I'd like to congratulate Clarence and yourself on a lovely book even so. Pics are worth the cover price anyway. It's nice to have nice books to look at whenevr you feel like it.

I may not get around to playing the rules either. Still playing Gilder's 'In The Grand Manner' at the SODS in Birmingham. Currently re-fighting Quatre Bras (again!). I don't get to re-fight much with my Danish army. Slapping Walmoden's Corp or being slapped by the flegdling KGL about wraps it up. If only the Danish Crown Prince hadn't persuaded Napoleon not to send the Danish army to Russia in 1812...........

I digress.

As i said, i'd like to be in on this weekender. Are you looking at a three day type? A big game or lots of little ones?

I can certainly supply lot's of Napoleonic troops. You name the army. If you'd like extra troops supplied that is.

Keep us informed.

Regards,

Dean.

Hi Barry,

I'd be up for this wherever you decide to put it on, it just depend's on when.I don't own a set of rules yet and this is what could push me over the edge into buying R2E.Unfortunatly my napoleonic's are mainly 15mm and I've only just started going over to 28mm maybe someone can loan me a couple of Brigades
Would rather play in one huge game than little ones and definitley not a competion, just a good fun wargaming weekend :D .

Best Wishes..........Ray.

Dean my old mucker... great to hear from you Big Fella :D

Ray, thanks for that too..

I am serious about running this.. probably in a hotel somewhere between Carlisle and Brum. Probably 8-10 players per side. Obviously there may be a cost attached but hey, we're at the planning stage!..

will keep you posted. :D

Hi Barry very interested in this idea, Mr Imrie told me at the other partizan that you had some ideas in the pipeline regarding participation events.Looks like he was telling the truth, will await further news with eager anticipation.

Barry, depending on time , date and location I would be interested. If I'm not available then my troops and equipment can be available for the event if you need them.

Barry, if the final dates are OK I would be happy to come along to help umpire and explain the rules to all attendees.

I may well be up for it Barry, depends where and when etc., but I am sans Napoleonic army and I guess that puts me in a difficult position?

Cheers,

Darrell.
