Clarence,

With my eyesight, I only noticed the "added straw" after I had taken the image and blown it up. I like your comment though.

Thanks,

Jim

My Name is Michael Caine and not a lot of people know that!!

Jim,

Are you sure this figure is based on yourself and not a older Michael Caine :?:
Standing next to the Grand Battery, he shouts out "I told you to only blow the bloody doors off"
I like the spectacles, but are they the jam jar bottom type :?: maybe he'll be leading his men the wrong way during our R2E weekender like Mr.Magoo ha ha

Update on the terrain building:

9 boards each of 4 x 2 feet constructed which will constitute the left hand side of the battlefield between Hougomont and the Charleroi road. Still got to paint 'em though. This is the biggest terrain building job I have yet done but I am very pleased with the results so far...

Barry,

Even though we are playing D'Erlon's attack, will we get a chance to see the whole setup in all its glory?

1st R2E Weekender.

Hi Barry,

It's sounding good mate, that gives us a 12' x 6' playing area.
Your last post has me somewhat confused though :? don't you mean the left hand side of the battlefield between La Haye Sainte and La Belle Alliance stretching over as far as Papelotte, Smohain and Frichermont???
I'm sure the amount of work your putting into this it's going to look fantastic.

Can't Wait

Chaps,

we are playing on a 12 x 12 split longways into two 12 x 6. I have custom built one side and the other side will be my normal customised TSS tiles that I use at shows. Didn't have time to do two sides!!

We are doing the entire stretch between Hougoumont and Papelotte excluding both of those places which are of table to the left and right respectively from the French perspective.

Hope this clarifies!!

A wee update for those interested in where we are up to:

1. Terrain finished :D ... I am very happy about that!
2. Orbats finished.. without giving too much away I estimate we'll be using about 2000 top quality painted figures.. not a duffer amongst them. Armies will be represented unit for unit and over 605 of the on table stuff will actually be the unit they are representing. No cheating on the cheese.. the artillery batteries are gun for gun on the 1:2 ratio of the rules meaning, nearly 70 gun models.
3. Commands are the next thing to be decided. Of course we have the sides.. but who is who will be next.

Been too busy to upload pics onto the site but have taken pleanty!

1st R2E Weekender.

Post by Churchill » Fri Apr 09, 2010 8:40 pm

Hi Barry,

It all sounds excellent and I can't wait, only a week to go now.
If Peter or Paul have no preferences might I have Lt.Gen.Coles 6th Division on the extreme left of the Allied line along with Maj.Gen.Vandeleur's & Vivian's Light Cavalry.
I think Jim was hinting at wanting Durutte's 4th Division so he could face me although I'm unsure of his reason's for this  possibly because I thought his command figure looked like Mr.Magoo.
If you give him the 1st Cavalry Division under Jaquinot then we'd be fairly even.
Definately no cheating on the cheese Barry, want to see plenty of eye candy photo's.

Cya next Friday.........Ray.

Barry,

I'll be grateful for whatever command you see fit to allocate to me having purchased enough ROUT markers to cover every eventuality. It would however be nice to face up to my good friend Churchill...

...just so I can see if the backs of his light cavalry look as good as the fronts. :P

I'm really looking forward to this weekend and I'm sure all the guys will join me in saying a big thank you to your good self and your helpers for all the effort you have put in.*

Regards,

Jim

*I mean, one just has to suck up to the umpire so, I thought I'd get mine in first.

The weekend sounds great. I am so bitter that it was not held while I was in the UK!!

I look forward to post weekend reports, analysis and most importantly - recriminations.

Well,

size of command won't be a problem. You'll have enough troops but when things are going wrong, you NEVER have enough troops

La Half Sainte???

Post by Churchill » Sat Apr 10, 2010 10:28 pm

Jim,

 :?
I can't wait to see La Half Sainte.

Exactly where is this place, not on the field of Waterloo!!!
As I said, maybe Mr.Magoo will lead his men off the table looking for this place and order his men to attack some geese in the distance, thinking them to be the enemy.

Cya soon,

Ray.

Bearing in mind that the model 'as sold' is 5 times the ground area required to be in scale most 28mm Napoleonic rules. I have managed to get it to just over 2 x size with 4 hacksaws, plenty of milliput and a lot of brute force. It's looking good! Some pics soon
Ray,

Hence, La Half Sainte. :D
