Glad the weekend went well. From the reports it sounds much more like a Russian victory !
Peter, your Guard Cossacks also performed well for me at the 1814 weekend and hopefully you'll remember to bring them so that I can send them storming into Paris at the November LOGW weekend.

The weekend was a great sucess and you would have been proud of the Russians.

Well what a weekend that was, quite a brisk affair from the first turn on Saturday morning.

As usual a big thanks to Barry ,Dave O'brien & Dave Imrie for putting it all together, another great scenario.

As Barry said these were 2 really close fought battles that swung back & forth all day, and that either side could have won.The French tried several times to break into the Shevardino redoubt losing a whole division in the process, but could not stop the Russians retaking them albeit with a lot of help from Rasputins ancestors.

At Borodino the result again hung in the balance with the last turn upon us, but a death or glory ( suicidal) charge by the 8th cuirassiers succeeded in gaining the middle fleche, giving the French a minor victory, although not sure that comrade Wallace saw it that way.

As I said at the start a great weekend, thanks to all the guys who played a part in it, and also the hotel & staff who were superb & here's to October.

Bob, it was a magnificent victory for the brave defenders of mother Russia aided by the almighty and the virgin (french couldn't get +2 for a holy virgin as there are no virgins in France).
OF course I have to disagree, its in the compulsory moves section.!
Great weekend. Excellent food , good company. great venue.
Shame about the smell of garlic from the other side of the table.
Nostrovia until the next time.
I'm away to make another couple of point blank fire dice!!

Bob, I think that was the main mistake the French made, they should have concentrated all their MP's on taking Shevardino village then launch an attack behind the Russian batteries and redoubt and just use D.I. to demonstrate against the Russian left flank to tie them down. Being an umpire I couldn't offer you that advice but I thought all the French put up strong attacks on both days and it was great to see the Fleches changing hands so many times.

Yup!.. thought I'd get a few up tonight before people complained aboutr me being too slow. Shevardino now and the Fleches in a couple of days. My favourite two are Davout getting a Cossack squadron up the a*** and the final shot in the dying light of a Fife evening and a Russain autumn evening!
