REPUBLIC TO EMPIRE AT SALUTE 2011

Post by barr7430 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:52 am

Last minute change of plan for me. i was originally going only as a punter to SALUTE but now will run a game at the VICTRIX stand using my San Cristobal terrain (a modification of) and an 'ALL VICTRIX' line up of troops.
If some players want to drop by and throw a few dice with me then I'd be glad to see you.
DI will be busy at SALUTE doing ECW with Touching History.

I will modify the terrain a little for the game and of course VICTIRX have several new units including Portuguese and other Allied nations for both sides.. :D

Are you going to bring the terrain home after the show for us to use?
Cheers

A good day for both Victrix and R2E.

Barry's luscious terrain was a definite crowd puller, and some beautifully painted figures added to the overall loveliness of it all.

A full compliment of viewing members from Joe Public made the day fly by, most seemed to be taken with the R2E concept, so much so that Barry had to sell the copy we were using to play the game as a well known retailer had run out.

The Peninsular scenario seemed to work well, and I believe is the firm favourite for the next weekender, especially with Bill who thinks all his Portuguese will be veteran elite,( he must be deluded).

A cracking day with lots of new figures to purchase on the day, or plan to add to the collection in the near future, and some other really good games especially Saxon Dog's siege of York ECW game.

Next one will be Falkirk, more Borodino for the R2E stalwarts amongst us.
See everyone there.

Yes, first of all let me thank you very much Bob 8) for taking control when
1. The rules were sold from under our noses and I had to do the mile round trip to the hotel to pick up the copy I forgot in the first place
2. Continuing to run the game even when I came back allowing me to talk to the punters too.
3. For showing sang froid when I was bizarrely 'interviewed' for INTERNET TV by

www.rhq.tv

The nice Aussie bloke wanted to do a piece on R2E, the game and the figures. I have no idea whether it will see the light of day and suspect it was a little snippet of his overall show coverage... let's see

Also good to hear the rules sold out but DT should have brought an extra box as he told me he could have sold 20 more copies!

It was great to see Forum members msk, BP,valleyboy, Lewenhaupt and many others who dropped by.

The feedback on R2E is really very encouraging now as many people came during the day to say how much they were enjoying the rules.

The Victrix figures looked beautiful as we ran through a hybrid game which was an amalgam of the San Cristobal scenario of 2 years ago and Clarence's Historicon Almaraz scenario. I will upload the handout to the Warchest.. it is called Agua Caliente.

Very impressed by the Portuguese metals and the new Russian metals also.

Didn't have too much time to tour the show but I am sure some things caught the eye of Forum visitors and a new thread will start on the General Discussion board

A pleasure Barry,I thoroughly enjoyed the game and also the response from a lot of people who stopped by, several of whom were repeat visitors during the day. Hopefully some bought the rules and will join our happy band of brothers.

Actually just watched the Adepticon report from this channel and it was good value. This is the bloke (Andrew Galea) who was doing the SALUTE event. Good for the hobby I think...
