15mm Scale

Post by wkeyser » Thu Mar 10, 2011 7:09 am

Did a few calculations last night and came up with the following scales.

Using my rule of thumb that 480 men in three ranks takes up about 100 meters of frontage and since our figures are based four figures in two ranks on a frontage of 4cm, this means that three bases are 24 figures which are 480 men. So 12cm is 100 meters and if in the rules 8” are 100 meters that means that 1.5cm equals one inch for our 15mm figures.

So this makes converting the distances in the rules a little easier and will use this in our re-write of the cheat sheets, with 15mm distances.

This makes more sense in firing and movement as the 1 cm per inch makes for some strange ranges when compared to battalions in line and artillery fire again vrs the length of battalion in line.

I hope this helps those doing the rules in 15mm. Now the interesting aspect for us is that the club has thousands of 15mm figures but we also have thousands of 6mm Adlers based 10figs on a base, so that works out to be 6cm to a hundred meters or .75cm equals an inch, which opens the doors for really large battles!

Well we have some more interested gamers for our Wednesday game so it should be interesting to see if I can get a much better grasp of the nuances of the rules.

Road d10 d10 d10

Basically changed the inches into meters then converted to our ground scale of 12cm equals 100 meters or averaged to 5inchs = 100M

The use of the D10 actually gives almost the same range of distances as that of those for the ground scale used in the rules.

The use of the D6 works out to be almost the same as the D3 in the rules.
