Wargaming in History Volume 2

Post by Captain of Dragoons » Wed Dec 29, 2010 3:40 pm

I ordered and recieved this book by Charles Grant and Phil Olley just before Christmas. It is hardback and well done. I enjoyed the old school approach and am thinking of ordering Volume 1.

Here is the bit from Kentrotmen Publishers.

BIGGER! BETTER! UNMISSABLE!
WARGAMING IN HISTORY VOLUME 2: THE WAR OF THE AUSTRIAN SUCCESSION - DETTINGEN, FONTENOY AND LAUFFELD.
190 pages, colour throughout.
The ground-breaking series continues in breath-taking quality. Charles and Phil have produced the ultimate study of wargaming the War of the Austrian Succession with the usual lively scenarios for big or small armies, illustrated (once again full colour throughout) with wargames photographs to make you drool!
But simply more than that. Even if you are not a wargamer, but an enthusiast of the period, this book is for you. Charles has produced, in his wonderfully readable style, a detailed history of the campaigns and the battles, with as good a set of orders of battle as you will find.
And if any more temptation was needed, the special section for this volume is a study of the Irish Wild Geese and the Scots in French service, with history, uniform details, and 16 superb colour plates by Bob Marrion.

Volume 1 covers three battles from the Seven Years War and rumor has it that Volume 3 is being worked on and one of the battles featured in it will be Hastenbeck.

cheers
