Brigade move test

Clarence, we tested the Brigadier card gets to move his brigade tonight, finally. We liked it and it didn't seem to affect things in a negative way. It keep things moving along and allowed the player to keep his brigades more orderly.

We added a stipulation, the Brigade had to get the same order. We felt it was too liberal to allow players to do (potentially) four different orders in this period.

We also allowed the CinC to issue an order to a brigadier allowing him to move his brigade a second time.

This was our largest game to date, we had all our toys on the table; 6 brigades of 3-4 foot with 8 regt's of horse and 1 of dragoons plus 2 light guns. I'll get a couple pics up tomorrow.

Still having fun
Joe/Gavin

That sounds great, Joe. I'm working on three or things at once, but VWQ is one of them. I have a couple of possible rule changes for you to test, but I'll send you an e-mail off forum in a couple of days...

Was this Brigade Move, every added to the rules? It sounds like a good idea and it seems like it would help keep brigades from breaking up too much.

what say you?

We have been using the "Brigade move" in our games and it works very well. We play it as brigadiers can only command units in their brigade within 6 inches of them, and all must be given the exact same command. Those units in the same brigade, but outside of 6 inches, receive no orders.

The 6 inch command radius makes it so it is not overpowered, but still allows players some possible control for making things happen (depending on when their card shows up). Has really helped those players who make a plan vs those who just wait for a card to show up before deciding what to do.

YIS,
Alan

Alan, do you allow your CnC when his card is drawn to give his order to a Brigadier who could then activate his entire brigade?

I like the 6 inch command range from the BG and all the same action. It seems that this would really improve large games and keep them from slowing down and some units not moving.
