Base Mounting for Dragoons

Yes, I know the number of figures and base stands don't matter.
I prefer to get as much out of my number of figures as possible without sacrificing the overall look of the battlefield (otherwise I'd just play with cardboard counters). I also try to limit the number of chits/markers on the board as much as possible.
With that stated, I'm considering making dragoon regiments to be 2 stands, 5-6 figures per stand (4-5 infantry, 1 horse). The horse would face a different direction from the foot, and the direction the unit last moved annotating which status the dragoons are in ( toward the horse=mounted; toward infantry =unmounted).
Granted 2 stand regiments makes them vulnerable to being shot to pieces quickly, but they also have the evade option which I think levels it out.
Anyone have other specific preferences for mounting dragoons for VWQ?
Thanks in advance for comments/thoughts!
