Specs are actually quite good for conveying a presence or "air 2 to the figure. The times i,ve done it I usually paint black or dark grey rims and then paint the lenses accoring to... psycho/nutter- red. Cool guy - fairly light blue or green. laid back -yellow(ish). then gloss varnish the lenses.
Secret agent type, dark blue, deep purple or dark grey

Jim,

if you were painting specs on figures reperesenting the ´team´ I wonder who´d be getting what colour!!!!!!!!

Another couple of suggestions:

1- Paint the lenses silver or gunmetal as if they are catching the light

2. Paint them a blue grey and using a very fine brush paint a small white line diagonally across each lens- It is a sort of stylised technique sometimes used on vehicle windscreens.

Cheers
