Wonderful! I hope Clib sculpts a lance for the standard bearer. This would make the command set perfect. It would be much better for this great figure to be seen carrying a standard on a lance rather than on piece of wire. Either way, though, I will be buying them.

Please, do NOT sculpt a lance or pole for any standards. Those are always too weak and are easily broken. A supplied pole as Front Rank does would be fine.

Absolutely right. The days of cast lances are well gone. May I please also suggest that the 'open' hand for the standard be in fact 'closed' and thereby enable a - to be subsequently drilled out for even greater security. I hate having to reglue and then repaint figures when the standard gets knocked out of an 'open' hand.

We'll have a look at that but it may be a little too late to close the hand totally. Location point sounds interesting, I have suffered with those problems over the years myself.


Embarrassing story which I am not afraid to tell... when I bought my very first metal cavalryman from Foundry probably 25 years ago I had no idea how to fit him on the horse as he had a metal bar running between both of his feet and wouldn't go on the horse... I had no idea this was a runner from the casting process and that you had to do ANY work with a metal figure before you used it

Tim, it is better to reglue a standard to the hand that all the model to the horse...

The group of Officers writting and sending orders has solved my problem of selecting my range of models for this Period. It is great, and a good idea from you; not all must be combatants (Have you planned looters, sappers working, camp followers...?).

Clibanarium and I had a long discussion this week about the future. We agreed to keep options open but are both quite excited about a less well clothed and armed range of figures to represent the Jaocibite and Williamite recruits in Ireland. The supernumary types that you mention Juan have always been a favourite of mine as you are able to tell a story with them.
