Where is WARFARE range going next?

Post by barr7430 » Mon Apr 23, 2012 9:59 pm

SALUTE and long chats with various people including the sculptors, casters, friends, resellers and customers have got me to the stage of being able to say what the longer term development plan for WARFARE MINIATURES will be:

The range has turned the all important financial corner which makes the decision to continue and invest a simple one...I will.

The cavalry are in the bag and so over the next few weeks the various codes trailed and shown here will be released. The reaction to the cavalry samples I had at SALUTE was tremendous and I am really pleased not only for me but for Clibanarium too! But, to a large extent that is history now and I need to move to the next stage in the range's growth.

The following subjects will appear relatively quickly:

Additional Officer variants
Additional artillery crew
20 new infantry figures with apostles
Mounted dragoons
French of various descriptions
More horse variants (animals)
Further personalities
Siege related characters
Militia and recruit codes suitable for Sedgemoor/Ireland/Europe

By the end of 2012 the range is likely to have up to 40 -45 pack codes with over 140 figure variants.

Much of the work is already underway. I am always interested in what gamers and collectors want. The Cuirassiers are a direct result of lobbying! So on this thread I am happy to field questions, hear comments and listen to suggestions.....

What about unskilled strong backs for the artillery?

Dragoons in those small mitre style hats.

Forgive my slight vagueness
aforementioned strongbacks are included in the 'siege characters' category. They are a definite and have already been discussed with the sculptor... OK Bob you can call off the attack dogs now

Spanish (if the French won't do for them), Piedmont cavalry in buffcoats, pikemen in defending positions, cavalry casualties (if not aleady suggested). i assume you will not be going a far east to Vienna (Poles, Turks, etc)?

Obviously, I did not proofread my last sentence, but you get the idea.

Never assume Dannie

I kicked the topic of an eastbound train around at the weekend. The Cuirassiers are a definite step in that direction especially as I have had Austrian helmets sculpted.

All of the above were discussed at Salute, and are possibilities according to Barry, so watch this forum.

If Barry makes it to the military museum in Istanbul, then I can see him getting inspired to do Turks and Poles and even gives him an excuse to produce a figure for Prince Eugene. Hopefully he'll find out more info for me on the Crimean Turks while he's at it.

Have just seen photos of the Cuirassier sculpts from Clibinarium this morning... coincidental with my imminent visit(leaving in 5) to the Museum of Turkish military history. A collision course for Warfare releases and my day out.... is the range heading east?.....tune in for the next installment later..

Well Barry did make it to the museum, and was rather taken with what was on show. I think that its another step closer to the range heading to the East, but thats just an educated guess.

All I can say is these boys know how to lay out a military museum 8)

It was incredible. It focused mostly on the periods they seem proudest of:

Hunnic/Turcoman
Seljuk
Ottoman (particularly Byzantine bashing which they seem REALLY fond of)
Russo -Turkish
WW1

Not so much Crimean stuff but did pick up some nice shots of certain artifacts and paintings. Also not to much on 1683.. probably for obvious reasons!

I must upload some of the photos as the MUST be shared with wargamers, it is just too good to hide!

So, getting back to the WARFARE connections... I can see the Imperial front developing and some nice extras to accommodate the new rules in BLB2 for Austrian Horse tactics..........
