A quick progress report on this thread; sculpting for Grand Alliance French, further Grand Alliance allies, GNW types, Highlanders and irregularly dressed infantry and militia are all underway now. I have definitely been listening to the Forum community and acting on ideas as and where practical. The GNW project community is coming together and when we have a few more test sculpts to share we'll begin the serious financial commitment part of the process.

nobody has missed anything folks. Dolly construction has been continuing on an industrial scale. We'll get those dollies done in metal shortly and from there we'll move to the test sculpts. A combination of external events has prevented more regular communication from my side.. those being; a period of 12 weeks when I have been in the UK less than 2 days per week and usually then, extremely jet lagged

I would be very interested in Franco-Dutch and Skanian wars figures. Now that I've started Kingscarbine Miniatures I'm tempted to bang some dollies and sculpt a couple of test figures to see if I can match North Star 1672 range.

I would be very interested too in Franco-Dutch and other Grand alliance armies (imperials, italians,spaniards..)

Maybe slightly out on a limb here but I wondered if there might be any possibility of a range of more general or generic figures, I was thinking of:

Troops on engineering tasks, digging, carrying fascines etc.
Civilians, some armed but most not. Women, children perhaps.
Civilian contractors, drivers, muleteers etc.
Clergy.
Animals, horses, mules, maybe casualties for same.

Only just noticed this thread - I trust it hasn't been replaced by another one that I also haven't found yet! I've had a quick look through the previous pages, and hopefully this won't duplicate anything that has gone before.

My interest is 28mm late-era armies for Field of Glory Renaissance (Duty & Glory book which covers 1660-1698), most particularly Bavarian, Saxon and Savoyard. Maybe an Anglo-Dutch at some point. On that basis, I just voted for Grand Alliance and GNW: for the latter, I'm primarily looking at infantry grenadiers (you can get away with British Guards in 15mm and smaller, but not in 28mm+), and maybe some passive-aggressive pike poses ("push of pike") for the Saxons. Other Saxon troop types and the Savoyards are generally well covered already (although I think the Savoy gunners were civilians up to 1696).

The distinctive stuff not yet covered will be Bavarian infantry: essentially two "line" versions, with and without coat lace ("with" being Leibgarde and Kurprinz, "without" being everyone else), but both with unique features not seen on existing figures; and grenadiers. The rest of the army - cuirassiers in german helmet, dragoons in tricorne, and artillery - are already well covered; assuming GA French will include hussars, those will be too, in due course. A Maximillian Emmanuel figure would also be nice.

If Hoffman is accurate, Bavarian foot were possibly wearing actual tricornes from the mid-1680s, and certainly from the mid-1690s when they adopted the distinctive blue coat for all infantry ranks (except sergeants who kept reversed colours). Other distinctions appear to have been water canteens, musket slings, slightly oversized cartridge boxes, and gaiters worn over the shoe, instead of inside; pikes were dropped (replaced by chevaux-de-frise) in 1686, and officers wore cuirasses at least until 1694. These infantry figures (apart from the officers) could double as early Marlburian British, who also wore full gaiters. I would be interested in sponsoring these if they are not already on the schedule.

However, my "must have" are grenadiers. AFAIK, only Reiver Castings make proper Bavarian grenadiers in 28mm (although I think there is a new Ebor figure I haven't seen yet); sadly the Reiver figures are not good, once described as wearing bulbous coats that made them look like they'd been shoplifting. Unfortunately, most manufacturers won't make them because of several distinctive features, and try to sell you Austrians instead. Ironically, both Austrians and other German troops could be depicted by proper Bavarian figures at certain times. The unique features of this troop type are a large grenade cartouche on the right hip, behind which is slung an axe; a large carriage pistol in a holster on the left front of the waistbelt (usually depicted next to the bayonet); a curved sword; a moustache; and a bearskin cap - tall for the 1680-1690 period - with a bag having a tassel hanging to the rear (rather than the side as per Austrians). Pack WLoA11 - the storming grenadiers - with the belly box removed, would be a good starting point in terms of masters/dollies etc.

Worth pursuing?

Just to round out things a little, are any more personalities or senior officers likely to appear?

The sculpting schedule is pretty much continuous meaning, we will continue to add models into the process as and when priorities allow. Recently almost all of the sculpting time has been devoted to the GNW range (which is at a temporary halt due to the tragic death of Stewart Griffin).
More officers will appear. In fact a Bonnie Dundee figures is awaiting production moulding right now.

Warfare has produced William III, James II, Sarsfield, St Ruth and above now plans for Bonnie Dundee.

For the Sedgemoor Campaign any plans to produce Monmouth, Feversham or Churchill?

Grenadiers Firing Line in Fur Caps

Grenadiers attacking with bayonets and axes and pistols maybe make them more aggressive in their stances, like charging levelled muskets or sticking the bayonet in giving them more RARRRRR!! Hahah

Grenadiers for French Regiments they do look different

Maybe French infantry I believe they had a lot more Buttons to sleeves and jackets a minor difference but that's just me being a uniform nut

Or French infantry in the slightly earlier uniform with ribbons and shorter sleeved coats
