Lads, can I just say what a great time I had at the weekender. It was my first one & you all made me feel very welcome. What a great bunch of people.

I'll be at the next one & hopefully not jet lagged & ready to drink!

I was so inspired that I ordered two full armies from Barry on the Monday. No, I haven't told my wife!

Organisation was excellent & "umpires" outstanding. Thanks for the toleration for my "learning curve".

I think some of my 'charges' were 'bold & glorious' or should that be 'stupid & naive'!

Just joined this forum too, so looking forward to the craic!

Paul Patrick. Belfast. :D

So what armies did you choose Paul?

It was certainly inspiring to see all the various troops at play and has refreshed my enthusiasm!

Hello Jim!

I'm building for William's wars in Ireland & Scotland, beginning with Ireland.

I'm starting with forces for the Battle of the Boyne, specifically the Williamite right flank/Jacobite left flank around the village of Oldbridge & the Ford.

Jacobites;

Foot;

FootGuards x 2 Bns, Grenadiers
Antrim, Clanrickarde, De Boisseau Regiments.

Williamite;

Foot;

Gardes de Voet x 2 Bns. (Dutch X)
St.John's, Mitchelbournes, George Hamilton Regiments.(Irish Protestant X)
DuCambon, Le Caillemotte, De Meliniere Regiments.(Huguenot X)

Plus some of my favourite Horse Regiments:-

Jacobite; Lifeguards/Tyrconnell/Galmoy/Sarsfield

Williamite; Lifeguards x 2, Van Oyen, Schomberg.

That's for starters!

All the best. Paul

Excellent! I love the dragoons skulking behind some cover (an idea for the "to steal" list!)

OK, I have completed the four part series on the Derby weekender which will run on the blog over the next few weeks... the guilty are occasionally named (but most likely remain shameless!). In addition a three part series by Gunter on the creation of his 1690s period Saxon Army is also completed together with another 5 parter by me on how to do 'vignette' type bases within units.

The battle reports may begin claim and counter claim about performance, lost and captured colours and the results.

It's OK.. I won't publish the League table and allow Adam to say 'I was robbed!'(again) :wink:
