Photo's of Efoe's - Donnybrook factions

Post by Efoe » Sun Feb 16, 2014 9:16 am

The start of a game. Totally inspired by the donnybrook articles, I decided to go for it and order a lot of miniatures. Here are a few pictures of my growing Army and Cultist factions.

Image
(The free miniature - the captain of the army)

Image
Elite Horsemen

Image
An army character yet to be named. Possibly sergeant/ officer

Image
All the Army horsemen together!

Image
It is growing faster now! The original length of the pikes was 100mm, but they looked like anti-aircraft pikes that way, so I decided to cut them to 75mm.

Image
Ah, the cult leader/charlatan. lovely miniature from the warmachine range. freehanded a button tunic on his blank shirt and gave him a sabre in his other hand.

Image
The mob! I've spend whole evenings to find this lot. In the end I found them at redoubt enterprises. They are a bit tall, but they will do for now.

Image
First test game. (hilarious!) (oh and no, I didn't bother to use the grass this time, it was a short game only and my toddler prevents me from taking too much time with this kind of business ;) ).

Image
First preview of the coming ruins. A mix of blue foam, plastic card and a pencil. Perfect.

Hi Efoe, very nice with the cavalry being especially so; thanks for posting.

I've decided to go for Elizabethans in Ireland for my Donnybrook faction as I think the rules work well for this period. here's a link to my first painted but not completed units http://thegreatitalianwars.blogspot.co.uk/

cheers Pete

Lovely work Pete... Donnybrook will work for this period without any adaptation. Lances are included in the rules as is armour and heavy weapons... plain sailing I think.

Nice miniatures and painting form you ... very smart!

These are looking great Pete, I'm also looking to fight some actions in Ireland as well as Border Reivers. I also love your Italians.

Thanks all!

We have finished some more!

First, we have attracted the attention of the Witch hunter! Ally for the army. Pierre Cappuccino (The almost Italian occult expert)
Image

Then! the misfits! The charlatan"the bastard", the witch and the ghost "wandering henry".
Image

Now the most disturbing of all the characters. The ghoul, "horrible mr tall"
Image

The Master, the black captain himself.
Image

A unit of wild riders! Bandits!
Image

More coming soon. (3 units of drilled cultists on foot)

That's a mean looking faction you have produced with some interesting models.

These are a REAL treat! Wonderful imagination and painting. Just in the spirit of how I wrote the faction and wanted it interpreted. Go to the top of the class Efoe!

Thank you! and yeah, I was inspired by a lovely game you both wrote ;) I've played several games now to introduce the game to my friends and all love it. Two more demo's coming up. I will try to remember to take pictures next time.

As for the miniatures. It took me a very long time to find the right miniatures! but I am quite pleased with the result. Especially the ghoul! He needed to balance on the edge of probability and horror. Days of browsing later this "astral reaver monk" came up. Good stuff.

Next on the painting table are three units of foot cultists, a mix of all kinds of miniatures, mostly warfare. Also I got some wolves yet in the mail for the master of hounds. Finally, the ruins will be finished soon.

I am also really looking forward to Donnybrook - Dark.
