King Phillip's War (Figure Question)

Post by Iowa Grognard » Mon Feb 24, 2014 4:56 pm

I'm looking for suggestions for doing King Phillip's War. When a town/village was raided I could see using a force comprised of Pilgrim-like miniatures. However, what about the militias? They weren't volunteers, the grabbing the musket and powder horn off the mantle and going to fight types, but those who had been in impressed and armed at expense. What is the likelihood of apostles being used? I remember reading that they had to wait for new weapons etc to be purchased after they decided early on that the previous allotment of pikes were useless in this conflict.

Which figures would you suggest? What about mounted troops? They ditched them early on like they did with the pikes, but brought them back after realizing how useful they were at scouting etc. What about using some ECW figures?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

ECW models are perfect for the colonies in the 1670's...

Many of the figures in our game http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.co.uk/ ... s-war.html
are ECW figures, especially civilians and the remainder made up of Warfare Miniatures figures but painted in civilian colours rather than military uniforms.
Hope this helps?

Thanks, that does help. I've been looking for an excuse to buy some Warfare Miniatures and this along with my interest in Tangier give me reasons to indulge.

I found the perfect figures for Pilgrims, look at Brigade Games in The U.S. they have Pilgrims:

I have all three sets, and they fit perfectly. I plan on a King Phillip War faction as well. They also have Indians too, but there are a lot of manufactures that have them as well.

Good Luck!
