Calpe Versus Perry

Post by TIMUR57 » Fri May 18, 2007 11:54 am

Hi All,
can You tell me if Calpe figures have compatible size with Perry and Foundry?
Not in the same unit but on the same table!!!.
I ask this because I think that Calpe French will be a dream.....!

Thanks and kind regards from Italy!

Calpe French have been delayed. The sculptor is going to work on Saxon infantry first. The reasoning is "do we really need another collection of French infantry?" I agree with you - the Caple Prussians are awesome and I would love to see some Calpe French as well, but with the huge range available from Foundry, Front Rank, and the Perry Bros. it does seem like a loosing proposition to try and sell another line of French infantry.

I am sure Calpe would look good ont he same table with other 28mm companies. I have Foundry and Front Rank models in my collection and although there is a small difference (Front Rank models are slightly taller for one thing), on the table they look fine together.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and have been enjoying what is available here.

I have come Calpe Prussians that I am painting up for 1815 to go along side the Perry's French, Brunswickers etc.

Timur57, I think they go great together. The general size and quality of each is very compatable. I wasn't really planning to do Prussians until I saw the Calpe range...

Kevin and I ran a Napoleonic demo game at Claymore last weekend using his Calpe Prussians and my Front Rank and Foundry Russians. IMHO they looked great together. You can address the minor size differences easily with effective basing.

I concur. My Foundry Russians fit in nicely with my Front Rank Russians which in turn fit in nicely with my Front Rank Austrians (excepting that this particular range is a little, errrr, bland) and the whole shooting match fits in with the jewel in my collection ... the Calpe Prussians.

Note that the earlier Foundry Napoleonic releases (Austrians, Bavarians and the earlier released French) do not IMO fit so well being smaller of stature.
