Help! 1815 French Hussars

Post by paulos » Wed Oct 03, 2007 12:19 pm

Hi all,

I am about to take part in a group 1815 campaign project and need some help with 1815 French Hussar uniforms. I have found a couple of good websites but these only seem to go up to 1813.

I believe that there were only 7 Hussar regiments in 1815 but I am not sure which ones or indeed if they kept the same reg number as earlier (seems unlikely) or were renumbered. Also what uniforms did they wear was there any difference to earlier uniforms or did they keep the same colours etc?

Under normal cicumstances I would do some serious research and end up buying a ton of books :D on the subject but I am trying to keep outlay to a minimum on this one :( due to forthcoming home improvements  .

Hope you can help.

Cheers Paul.

Have a look at the following site

http://www.mont-saint-jean.com

It's in French, but it's not that difficult to find the units you want.

The two volumes on French Hussars by Andre Jouineau (available on Amazon) have excellent colour illustrations and good text.
