Calpe French - the first 3 packs

Post by kiwipeterh » Thu Jun 16, 2011 10:24 pm

A couple of days ago I received the first three packs Calpe Miniatures 1813 French. I was so impressed (but then I am a self confessed Calpe zealot! ) that I was moved to create a small photo review of them.

You can see it at:

and if you want to leave comments then you can do so at:

These look superb, even nicer than the Perry figures IMHO.
Thanks for posting Peter.

Peter,

These guys look fantastic, certainly the best late period sculpts on the market.

Do you know if they are available to purchase yet?

Wow, just wow. Now I'm really gonna have to get into the late Nappy period just so I can paint these figures.

Just to wade in here - at the same time Peter H. was receiving his first packs, I was getting the first photos of painted up versions of these figures from Peter F. in readiness for me updating the Calpe website.

You can see more on my blog at:

http://befreiungskriege.wordpress.com/2 ... -previews/

The first three packs are, indeed, on sale now (even though we're yet to update the website).

F1 - six "route march" fusiliers in greatcoats with covered shakos
F2 - four "route march" voltigeurs in greatcoats with covered shakos
F3 - four "route march" voltigeurs in greatcoats with covered shakos

Several more packs to follow in this "route march" set with different headgear variants and officers, musicians and eagle/fanion bearers.

Hi Bob

The first three packs are available to purchase - that's how I got mine! :D

They are not on the Calpe website yet though, so you'd need to make direct contact with Calpe Miniatures to get them.

Note that, as per my photo review, the 3 packs (6 fusiliers, 4 voltigeurs & 4 grenadiers) are all that's available at the moment. Unusually for Calpe the packs are being made available for purchase as the production molds are created. I believe that the next three packs available will be a repeat of the first three packs but with uncovered shakos. I have heard that this change makes quite a difference to the looks of the figures.

EDIT - Martin beat me to the punch. That'll teach me to leave the computer and then not refresh before I reply!

Hmmm I was hoping that the next pack ready would be a command pack with standard bearers, drummers and officers, with 4 sculpts in it.

That would make a nice number for 24 man battalions.

I believe that the is a fair bit bit of goodness 'in the works'. This is good because I know I'm champing at the bit for more! :o

The best way to keep up to date is to keep an eye on Martin Kelly's Befreiungskriege 1813-14 blog at http://befreiungskriege.wordpress.com. Martin maintains the Calpe website as well as supplying information on his blog.
