Just added pictures of my 2nd Landwehr unit to my blog:

Minis are all Calpe based for R2E.

Just a short teaser:

Burkhard,

Those are looking good. Calpe are quite large, aren't they? I like large figures and wonder if these would mix with my Front Rank.

Hi Jim,

I would really say they are large. Their clothing (especially on the Landwehr) seems a little bulkier. I only have a few Front Rank minis, but I would say that they should go fine size wise. The style of sculpting is different. Calpe have more pronounced folds and details. In that sense they are easier to fast paint. But unless you mix them within a unit (so far only possible with the French) it should not stand out.

Cheers,

Burkhard

A very nice unit Burkhard. You should be proud.

My next Landwehr battalion will be a firing line as well but one a bit further along in the process with several dead and wounded figures mixed in.

Hello Jim

Mr Calpe used to, & for all I know still does, recommend Front Rank figures as a good match for his own. I'd agree with him.

Not sure why... Casualties on a base always irritated me. Mostly because I fear people might not know if it represents unit strength as well (1 casualty = 20 men) or is just decoration. I will do some casualty bases soon to create loss markers, but first I want to get more units done.

Right now thee is a unit of Perry French Artillery on my table and next up will be a huge unit of Prussian Cavalry... Really looking forward to those!

THX,

Burkhard
